Acknowledgement of Country
South West Rocks Preschool respectfully acknowledges the Dunghutti people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, and we recognise the strength, knowledge and cultural wisdom that Aboriginal peoples continue to share with our community.
We honour the stories, traditions and ongoing connection of the Dunghutti people to Country, waterways and skies. We are committed to fostering a learning environment where children develop respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and where these cultures are valued as a vital part of our preschool community.
At South West Rocks Preschool, we say thank you to the Dunghutti people, the Traditional Custodians of this land.
We thank the Elders, who cared for the land, the river and the sky for a very long time.
We promise to look after this Country too, to care for the plants, the animals and each other as we learn and play together.
Here is the land, here is the sky
Here are my friends and here am I
We thank the Dunghutti for the land on which we work, learn and play
We promise to take care of it every single day
Hands up, hands down We are on Dunghutti Land
Our Connection to Country
Every day our children and educators come together to say thank you to the Dunghutti people.
Songs We Share
With thanks to Dalaigur Pre-School & Children’s Services Aboriginal Corporation and Aunty Vicki Taylor, our children are learning Dunghutti language through song. Here are some of the songs we sing together.
