Stingrays
We are excited to be developing a new program for children aged 2 to 3 years.
Our Stingrays room will focus on gentle transitions into preschool with an emphasis on play, connection, and building confidence in a nurturing environment.
While we continue to develop this program, we appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing more soon with our families.
Dolphins
At South West Rocks Preschool, our Dolphins room supports children as they prepare for school through a balance of structured learning and play.
We provide a range of experiences that support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development, while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning.
Our educators gently guide children to build independence, confidence, and the skills they need for a smooth transition to school.
Belugas, Minkes & Whales
(Eligible to begin School the following year)
Our Whales room supports children who are eligible to begin school the following year, offering a thoughtful and balanced program that honours both Being and Becoming within the Early Years Learning Framework. The Whales group is organised into two smaller “species”, the Belugas and the Minkes, with each sub‑group guided by an educator who holds primary responsibility for those children. This structure strengthens relationships, supports consistent communication, and enables educators to provide highly attuned, individualised guidance during this important year of learning.
Our school readiness approach is purposeful yet holistic, focusing on social confidence, emotional wellbeing, early literacy and numeracy foundations, and the development of independence, while ensuring children continue to experience joy, play, and meaningful connection each day.
Children in the Whales room participate in our Transition to School program, which includes collaborative experiences with local primary schools, and they enjoy weekly involvement in our intergenerational “Grandfriends” program, fostering empathy, community belonging, and shared learning across generations.
The Whales room is a vibrant, supportive environment where children are known, valued, and prepared for a confident and successful transition to school.
