Enrolment Planning for 2027
We would like to advise that enrolments for 2027 will be finalised a little later than usual this year. This delay is due to the proposed changes to the Start Strong funding model for preschools. Under the revised arrangements, services such as SWR Pre School will not receive confirmation of their final funding allocation until late October or early November.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and appreciate your patience while we work through these changes.
The Start Strong reforms for 2027 may allow preschools to offer a third funded day of attendance. Whether we can provide a third day will depend on several factors, including the final funding determination, our waiting list, and the timeline for opening our planned additional room at the Scout Hall property. We are currently exploring options to open this space earlier than originally planned. A third day could most likely only be offered once this room becomes operational.
To support our planning, we would appreciate gaining an indication of whether families would be interested in a three‑day attendance option. Please remember that we may not be able to offer a third day in 2027 as it will depend on confirmed funding and our operational capacity.
Please note that this survey is for planning purposes only. Re‑enrolment forms for 2027 will be sent out through OWNA shortly for two days per week. If we can offer three days per week in 2027, enrolments will be adjusted according to family requests and our confirmed capacity.

How Our Waitlist Works
Our preschool offers early education for children aged 3 to 6 years, and places are currently in high demand. Families can join our waitlist from the time their child turns two.
When a position becomes available we'll be in touch to request supporting documents including your child's birth certificate and proof of current immunisation.
Every application is reviewed with care and respect, and we're always happy to answer any questions you have.
Making Preschool Affordable
South West Rocks Preschool is a not-for-profit community preschool — fees are kept as affordable as possible and families do not need to register for CCS through Centrelink.
Through the NSW Government's Start Strong Affordable Preschool initiative, eligible families can save up to $4,347 per year, equivalent to 2 free days per week for children aged 3 and over.
To access fee relief you'll need to complete a declaration form from the NSW Department of Education. We'll guide you through this when your child is offered a place.
A one-off non-refundable administration fee applies to new enrolments for families:
$100 for non-equity families and
$50 for equity families
Daily fees are payable two weeks in advance and can be paid as a lump sum each term or in smaller instalments by arrangement. Direct deposit is our preferred payment method.
Casual days are available subject to vacancy and incur additional fees, please contact the office for current rates.
Fees for 2027 will be set early in Term 4.

How We Allocate Places
We follow the NSW Department of Education's Priority of Access guidelines to ensure places are allocated fairly and transparently, with priority given to children with the greatest need.
Priority 1 - Children aged 4 and over before 31 July
Priority is given to children in the year before school.
Priority 2 - Children from priority equity groups
Including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from low-income or disadvantaged families, children with disability or additional needs, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children experiencing vulnerability or at risk of harm.
Priority 3 - Additional circumstances
After the above groups we consider factors such as sibling attendance, family circumstances and the mix of ages and needs within the group.
Time on the waitlist is considered only after all other priorities have been addressed. We understand this may be disappointing for some families, please know that every application is reviewed with care.
